We did briefly contemplate buying a suit but the tuxes we found were equally as elegant and far more cost effective.

We went to Moores about a month ago, tried on a few and pretty much narrowed it down to the one I liked best. All that was left to do was to line up the appointment to go back and get fitted.

Then . . .

We were in Yorkville a few weeks back, strolling and doing some window shopping . . . when we happened upon “Harry Rosen”. We stopped for a moment, l Iooked at Lea and said, “out of curiosity, let’s just take a peek”. Lea said, “sure, why not.” Harmless, right? Just a casual visit to look at suits we can’t really afford….and I have will-power. No, really, I do.

So we enter and browse.

Our browsing eventually takes us downstairs to Hugo Boss and, while we’re casually looking, a salesman innocently asks if I would like to try one on.

“Sure, why not.” What can it hurt? Besides, it will only confirm what we already know. It’s more cost effective to rent, right?

Well, trying on a Hugo Boss is like taking a Ferrari for a test run (or so I would imagine). Once you’ve put it on, there’s no turning back. The logic was clear: how could I NOT buy a Hugo Boss suit for our wedding?!! I know there are the Tiger’s, Paul Smith’s, Armani, etc, but at THAT very moment, wearing that very suit, it was clear - this was the suit that I was meant to wear.

While most kids my age bought comics and playboy, I spent most of my late teen years buying GQ and hoping that one day I would have a job or function that would give me a reason to buy that Hugo Boss suit. Who didn’t want to look like the guys in all those ads? Well, last week, I made that desire a reality and I don’t regret it one little bit.

Sure it cost a bit more, but it’s a classic and I will wear it time and time again. Besides, “shouldn’t I feel like a million bucks for my wedding”? And to that question, my future wife looked me in the eyes, kissed me and said, “Absolutely!”

Accomdations for out of town guests

If anyone from out of town is looking for accommodations during the wedding, we've negotiated 1 bedroom suites at the Pacific Palisades.
